The TD advantage.

Meet TD, the second-largest of Canada’s Big Five Banks. TD has a wide variety of credit cards to choose from, the majority of which are offered through Visa. TD also has a strong partnership with Aeroplan, which allows cardholders can earn and redeem points for plenty of great rewards. TD credit card options are expansive, so you’re bound to find one for your lifestyle needs.

Here are some of the other great benefits you’ll get when you choose a TD credit card.

Apple Pay

TD has made paying with your credit card a breeze through Apple Pay. All its credit cards are accessible via Apple Pay, meaning you can add your TD credit card to your Apple iPhone or iWatch and enjoy the security, simplicity and convenience of paying with your mobile device.

Excellent mobile banking app

Keeping track of your TD credit card usage has never been easier. The TD mobile banking app allows you access to everything you’ll need when it comes to your account — all while on the go. You’ll be able to view your account activity, transfer money between accounts, pay bills, send money using Interac e-Transfers®, and have access to your credit card statements. You’ll never miss any in-store or online TD credit card payments.

TD Rewards

Many of TD’s most popular credit cards give you access to TD’s rewards program. With the program, you’ll collect points when you make purchases with your card, which can then be redeemed for travel, merchandise, and gift cards. You’ll also have the option to redeem your points for cash, or towards a credit at HigherEdPoints — a program that transforms loyalty program points into payments for school.

Aeroplan

As one of Canada’s most popular loyalty programs, Aeroplan has partnerships with hundreds of companies and brands. TD has a number of Aeroplan cards to choose from, and points collected while using your TD Aeroplan card can be used towards discounts on travel, merchandise and more.

Choosing the right TD credit card

When it comes to finding the best TD credit card, comparison shopping will help you pick the best card for your personal spending needs.

You can find the following types of TD credit cards in Canada:

  • TD low interest rate credit cards: A TD low interest credit card will help you pay off your credit card balance quicker, as a lower interest rate will mean more of your payment will go to your actual balance owing versus most of it going towards accumulated interest.
  • TD zero annual fee credit cards: Enjoy the convenience of paying with a credit card, without paying the annual fee with a TD no annual fee credit card.
  • TD rewards credit cards: Get more value out of your money by getting a TD rewards credit card and start earning TD credit card points or other rewards such as instant cash back. For example, choose a TD cash back credit card and get cash back on all eligible purchases.
  • TD travel credit cards: Looking for the best card for travel? Take advantage of TD credit cards with low exchange rates, travel insurance, travel rewards and more.
  • TD student credit cards: If you’re a student who is looking for a student credit card with no annual fee and amazing benefits, TD has some great options for you.

How to apply for a TD credit card

Applying for a TD credit card has never been easier. You can apply for a new TD credit card by completing a TD credit card application online.

You will need the following information along with your TD credit card application:

  • Your legal name
  • Your current and previous addresses
  • Your annual income (gross)
  • Your employment details

The credit card provider will use the given information to do a hard credit check and review your overall eligibility for the applied TD credit card and credit limit. This may cause your credit score to slightly drop. Once you pass the TD credit card eligibility check, you’ll receive your new card in the mail and you’ll have to follow the TD credit card activation steps before you can start using your card.

About TD

TD Canada Trust, formerly known as the Toronto-Dominion Bank, and before that, the Bank of Toronto, first opened its doors in 1856. In 2000, the bank merged with Canada Trust, and is now the second largest of the Big Five Canadian banks.

Long known for its emphasis on great customer service, TD takes care of the little things, like staying open longer than its competitors and giving free financial advice. TD also has a large portfolio of credit cards, made larger by its recent purchase of MBNA Canada. The bank now offers a broad spectrum of TD Mastercard credit cards, in addition to its broad TD Visa credit card selection. There are currently no TD Amex credit cards available. For more information on TD credit cards, check the TD site.
