Canadians need no reminder of how dangerous wildfires can be after what happened in Fort McMurray at the beginning of this summer. Possibly it’s with the memory of those fires in Alberta that has the province playing it safe with its own wildfires.

Last month the Toronto housing market had more sales activity than any July before it along with a 16.7% overall price increase over the previous year. Realtors in the city have an idea for bringing balance to the runaway market.

In May, Alberta faced one of the worst natural disasters it ever has when a huge wildfire rampaged over the Fort McMurray region and consumed over 2,000 homes and other buildings. More than two months later, the fire’s out, and most of Canada probably thinks things are returning to normal in Fort Mac, but the truth is things have barely changed for many residents.

Economical Insurance and their broker partner PV&V Insurance did a good thing this week. Together the companies donated $10,000 to YWCA Hamilton in support of its “At the Table” program.
